DELEGATION SPEAK

Gihan Dassanayake
Director - Fashion TV [Asia] Ltd.
[Oficial Representative
of BDW in Sri Lanka]

We express our keen interest in engaging with the "Bharat Diamond Week" organized by the "Bharat Diamond Bourse". Our institution proudly represents Sri Lanka within this initiative. Given the present demand for gemstones in Sri Lanka, our objective is to cultivate a robust market for diamonds in Sri Lanka in the near future.

We envision the establishment of Sri Lanka's inaugural DIAMOND HUB & Laboratory in Colombo, a collaborative effort involving our institution (Fashion TV Asia ltd, Star Gala ltd, and Ceylon tours ltd) and the Sri Lankan government as well. In the context of the upcoming BHARAT DIAMOND WEEK this October, we anticipate the participation of a strong delegation from the Government of Sri Lanka, comprising individuals and jewellers interested in diamond-related business ventures.

I would like to extend special acknowledgment to our partners in this endeavor, including the Star Gala ltd, Ceylon tours ltd, the Sri Lanka National Gem and Jewelry Authority and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board. These entities, alongside our agency have played an integral role in orchestrating this important jewellers delegation from Sri Lanka to Mumbai for the exhibition. With optimism, we anticipate that this commencement will herald a productive era of collaborative trade agreements and endeavors between our nations.

Japan Precious Magazine

Being the Chairman of the Japan Jewelry Trade Association and also the Editor-in-Chief of Japan Precious Magazine, I interact with over 5,000 jewelry companies in Japan.

Unfortunately, until now, most Japanese companies have rarely visited overseas jewelry markets other than the shows in Hong Kong. In that sense, I am very delighted to lead the delegation team from Japan to visit BHARAT DIAMOND WEEK this October in Mumbai.

Japan is a country with high demand for jewelry with the third largest jewelry market in the world. At the same time, it is also a very unique country that focuses on high quality and delicate designs. Therefore, the needs for materials such as diamonds are diversifying and we are always looking for new sources and suppliers.

In addition, Indian jewelry making technology has excellent technology backed by designs, and I think it will be a good match for the Japanese market. I have high expectations and am looking forward to this exhibition, which is being hosted by the world's largest BHARAT DIAMOND BOURSE. All the Japanese members are looking forward to meeting you at the venue.

My decision to attend the BHAR AT DIAMOND WEEK Exhibition was driven by the profound belief that this event embodies more than just a business opportunity; it symbolizes a convergence of cultures, a chance to forge lasting connections, and a gateway to mutual growth. This gathering underscores India's pivotal role in the global diamond trade, and I am certain that the insights gained and relationships forged during this event will pave the way for meaningful collaborations and advancements in our shared eld.

In conclusion, I am truly grateful for this exceptional opportunity to witness the intersection of India's heritage with the modern diamond industry. I am condent that attending this exhibition will not only enhance my professional knowledge but also leave me with cherished memories of this remarkable nation.

Thank you.

We had a group of buyers from Iran for the previous edition of the BDW that was held in April and we had a very satisfying trip which has motivated us to bring a larger group more than 30 jewellers to the upcoming BHARAT DIAMOND WEEK this October. The advantage with the BHARAT DIAMOND WEEK is that is a very compact and a product-focused diamond show which enables a lot of time to the Buyers to spend with their suppliers and to make good relationship as well. We are sure the upcoming show in October will be even more interesting and will generate more opportunities for strengthening the relationship of the gems and jewellery industry of Iran and India.

We are thankful to Mr.Mehul Shah and the Board Members of the BDB for this opportunity and are looking forward to being a part of the 5th Edition of the BHARAT DIAMOND WEEK - 2023 this October.
